• Location 1 – Connect West Placerville Drive with Main Street and Forni Road; includes construction of new Hangtown Creek Bridge and replacement (three stages) of the Highway 50/West Placerville Drive Undercrossing
• Location 2 – Widen eastbound Highway 50, replace the Bedford Avenue Pedestrian overcrossing and improve the operation of local cross traffic by widening three bridges that connect Main Street to Highway 50 (Bedford, Spring, and Canal Street)
• Relocation of the City of Placerville sewer line, approximately half is new mainline and half is collector replacement
• Construction anticipated to be complete second quarter calendar year 2009

• Hangtown Creek realignment – planted willows
• Cleanup and installed winterization measures – 3.8 acres still active
• West Placerville Drive udercrossing offramp – final paving
• West Placerville Drive undercrossing onramp – final paving
• West Placerville Drive Connector – completed slope paving under U.S. 50 bridge
• U.S. 50 – final lift and permanent striping on westbound from Canal to west end of project
• U.S. 50 – removed and replaced AC eastbound (45mm final lift remains)
• Finished paving business parking area – lower Main Street (striping remains)
• Bedford, Spring, and Canal roadways – removed and replaced distressed AC, temporary striping
• Bedford, Spring, and Canal Bridges – installed ledgestone veneer for barriers
• Bedford, Spring, and Canal Bridges – installed polyester paving (except east half of Bedford which is scheduled for next week)
• Electrical services – PG&E meters installed, most decorative lights are active
• Installed metal railing on eastbound U.S. 50 barrier
• Bedford Pedestrian Overcrossing (POC)– center column and northerly anchor completed, falsework over U.S. 50 westbound span installed

Work to take place over the next few months

• Plant special “liner plants” along bottom of Hangtown Creek Realignment
• West Placerville Drive Connector – complete striping and install signs
• Bedford Roadway – remove and replace last distressed AC area, temporary striping
• Bedford Bridge – finish last half of polyester paving
• Bedford POC – walls and ramps on north side of U.S. 50
• Bedford POC – falsework for span over eastbound 50 on 12/15/08
• Signs
• Lighting
• Finish loops and signals
• Remove fill from Caltrans Resident Engineer office area

US 50 IMPROVEMENTS THROUGH THE CITY OF PLACERVILLE

Project Description
The project, currently under construction, will result in many improvements to increase capacity and improve traffic circulation on and around U.S. 50 through Placerville including:

• A direct connection between Placerville Drive and Main Street under U.S. 50 and over Hangtown Creek
• An eastbound auxilliary lane along U.S. 50 from the Placerville Drive onramp to Clay Street
• Improved traffic signal coordination
• Widening of the bridges over Hangtown Creek at Canal Street, Spring Street, and Bedford Avenue
• Reconstruction of the pedestrian overcrossing at Bedford Avenue
