FOLSOM-EL DORADO TRANSIT STRATEGY

The Folsom/El Dorado Corridor Transit Strategy (FEDCTS) Final Report was approved by the El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC) at their meeting on December 9, 2005. The FEDCTS has been a multi-year work effort in collaboration with the City of Folsom and El Dorado County Transportation Commission to identify and evaluate corridor transit alternatives along the Highway 50 Corridor from the existing Light Rail line serving the City of Folsom into El Dorado County.Extensive public outreach during the Study consisted of public Open Houses in 2004 and 2005, two newsletters sent to over 3,200 individuals, a website dedicated to the Study, and over 35 “key stakeholder” interviews early on in the process. Key stakeholders included local developers, large employers, neighborhood, business and community association representatives, chambers of commerce and elected officials. The FEDCTS does not include conclusions about which transit modes (bus, bus rapid transit, or light rail transit) should be developed at this point, but it does point to the alignments that will serve the communities the best. In the El Dorado Hills area, the two preferred alignments enter El Dorado County from the Southern-Pacific right-of way and either continue along White Rock Road to the Silva Valley/US 50 interchange or into the El Dorado Hills Business Park.
